LIDAR
The Global Positioning System (GPS) has revolutionized our ability to answer the age old question, "Where are we?"
GPS devices are now available in many forms - from lightweight handheld units to integrated systems used to navigate aircraft. This technology has become pervasive in our everyday lives in such things as rental cars and even cell phones. However, to get very precise and accurate positions, this technology needs to be used in a determined way.
The SRCW is using GPS to improve the network of reference points used throughout our state that provide control for latitude, longitude and our height above sea level. It allows us to more easily monitor not only where we are, but also where we are going!
